Advaita Vedanta/Adi Shankaracharya

Shankara explains that the yogi should practice constantly in a secluded place, alone, with controlled mind and body, free from desire and possessiveness. These conditions create the ideal environment for the mind to turn inward and rest in the Self, which is the goal of meditation.
